El Panteón de los Hombres Ilustres

Another historical and less known destination is the famous Pantheon of Illustrious Men, located in the cloister of the Basilica of Our Lady of Atocha. It is considered an Asset of Cultural Interest as it represents a very relevant part of the history of Spain. This monument serves as a resting place for characters from political and military history such as Cánovas del Castillo, Antonio de los Ríos Rosas or José de Palafox. Admission is free and it is relatively close to the Atocha station.
