“So, all of the… All of the travel, Mom, the closet full of designer clothes, the cases of wine. That’s all been my inheritance? Mom, that money was the only thing I ever got from my dad. That was the only thing that made me feel like, somewhere in the world, there might actually be someone looking out for me.”

Look out for sb – приглядывать и заботиться о ком-либо.

I totally agree with the daughter. Parents who care about their children, never leave them fending for themselves in this cruel world. If you have no substantial inheritance, you'd better think carefully why the hell that is. And if you can’t make money fast and become rich enough, maybe it’ll be a good idea not to impose your broke-ass life on your children (by means of not having them). Sometimes, when you look at your life and don’t see any solid bank accounts, lush houses, big apartments, but see a slice of bread on your table in your small nasty kitchen instead, it makes you think that your parents didn’t think at all or didn’t care. It makes you feel lonely, and not, like, pleasant introvert-lonely, but completely abandoned, which is not pleasant, of course.
And if you’re not convinced by the argument above, think about how unfair this world is. You can be a good boy or girl, be an A-student at school, then work hard trying to achieve something (money, of course), but as time passes, you realize more and more that maybe you didn’t even want any of that to start with? Studying… working… only to pay your bills, buy some food, and continue working like a good slave. Not everybody becomes rich and successful. Some people just grind their whole lives to no avail. But as I once said, any tolerance has its limit… 💣
